Dr Amir Khan


Dr Amir Khan is a full-time NHS GP in inner-city Bradford, earning his medical degree at the University of Liverpool in 2004 and qualifying as a GP in 2009. Diplomas in Child Health and Obstetrics and Gynaecology followed, giving him particular expertise in children’s and women’s health among other specialisms.

Amir has also gained a Post Graduate Diploma in Education and has worked with GP trainees since 2011, receiving  the 2018 GP Trainer of the Year for his work. Amir works at Bradford’s The Ridge Medical Practice, a recent GP Practice of The Year.

Amir is a new Ambassador for The Good Grief Trust, an organisation supporting people who have been bereaved. His role there will be to advise on bereavement support for those from minority ethnic backgrounds in culturally appropriate ways.

His TV appearances include GPs Behind Closed Doors and The Science of Sleep and he’s Sky News and BBC Breakfast‘s medical expert. Amir’s upcoming projects include Dr Amir’s Sugar Crash (Channel 5) and his book, The Doctor Will See You Now (2020) is a Sunday Times bestseller.
