Valentine Warner is a chef, broadcaster and author of six cookbooks including The Good Table: Adventures In and Around My Kitchen. His TV career begin with 2008’s What to Eat Now, and subsequent shows include Valentine Warner: Coast to Coast, Great British Food Revival, and Country Show Cook Off.
Valentine’s latest book is The Consolation of Food (2019), a collection of stories about life and death, seasoned with recipes.
The book’s 75 dishes are organised chronologically and each recognises the positive energy that foraging for food or fishing for ingredients can create. Valentine also considers how cooking itself can soothe the soul and lift our spirits, so necessary in times of grief and sadness.
Valentine has also written for the Times, Country File, Great British Food, Delicious, Waitrose Food Illustrated and Olive magazine.
