Linda Magistris, Good Grief Speaker

Linda Magistris to host Good Grief Festival

11.10.2020

Bristol’s virtual Good Grief Festival is thrilled to welcome Linda Magistris, CEO of The Good Grief Trust, as its in-studio host. The majority of speakers will be joining us online from their own homes, though a few special guests and key speakers will be live in our studio over the event, which runs from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2020.

Linda, a successful actress and businesswoman, founded the Good Grief Trust to help support bereaved people after she lost her partner Graham to a rare form of cancer in 2014. Her own experiences of struggling with grief led her to realise that more could be done to unite bereavement services to better support those in need.

Linda said, “The six years since Graham’s death have been enlightening and a real journey of discovery. I’ve woken up to the reality of life and death, and realised the urgent need to join the dots across the country, to bring us altogether to share our stories and to try to make things a little better for all of us who lose someone we love.

“I am passionate about trying to ensure no-one falls through the net, and have dedicated the past four years to setting up this charity. I am very proud of everything we have achieved in such a short space of time.”

This is a topic very close to Linda’s heart, and she will introduce panellists including Oyovwe Kigho (founder of The Widows Empowerment Trust) and Ian Ridley (shown below with his wife, trailblazing sports journalist Vikki Orvice, who died at the age of 56). It aims to help people who have lost loved ones themselves, and those who support others who’ve lost someone dear.
