Mike Gray
Mike Gray is 80 years old and lives in Newcastle. After being married for 55 years, his wife sadly died five years ago due to an inoperable brain tumour. She died just 12 weeks after the tumour was discovered, so her death came as a terrible shock and left Mike feeling incredibly lonely.
Mike then discovered Independent Age, and now has a regular visitor who pops in once a week. He also receives calls from a telephone befriender.
Independent Age is a national charity that provides free information and advice for older people and their families. It can advise on care and support, money and benefits, and health and mobility. The charity also provides friendship services to relieve loneliness.
